Meet Our Students

2008 Participants

Participants enrolled in the U.S-China Bilateral Trade Program experience a rich mix of activities during the semester. These include a full time internship, four days per week, in private companies and organizations located in Washington D.C.; weekly classes focusing on the U.S- China bilateral agenda, speakers, panels, site visits, forums and trade simulations.

The U.S.-China Bilateral Trade Internship Program is unique because it brings Chinese and U.S. students together to work and study. The students will learn best business practices, how to facilitate bilateral trade, and develop cross-cultural awareness. The program prepares students from China and the U.S. to champion development that will benefit both countries by exposing them to innovative programming and leadership training.

The 20 students selected to receive Boeing Company scholarships for 2008 were chosen from a pool of more than 70 applicants.

Want To Be Involved?

My name is Daniel. I am an International Studies of East Asia (China) major at the University of Washington. I have traveled around the world as a Flying Crew Chief in the U.S. Air Force but have never had the DC experience.

This is my first internship and I am looking forward to the experience that The Washington Center will provide me. I applied for this internship because I am very interested in the economic, social and environmental issues that affect U.S.-China relations and hope to find future employment in this area.

Tell us a little about yourself.

I am a senior from Peking University majoring in Risk Management and Insurance. I found my major interesting but a little self-contradictory after two years of study. The risk management has much to do with the probability and statistics while the insurance concerns empirical issues such as insurance policy and regulation.
